Allen Thompson

Allen Thompson is a second-generation elevator mechanic with 35 years’ experience.  He has 3 boys in the trade making them 3^rd generation elevator mechanics.  He started his career in the trade in 1988, going to school for half a day and working in the trade the 2^nd half the day.  He was initiated in the trade in 1989 and was involved in the local as a warden, then a trustee, and then vice president.  In 2007 he was voted in as president of the local.  He worked for Otis as the adjuster in mod and new construction and then later in maintenance and repair.  In 2013 he was elected Business Agent for Local 51 (Richmond – Roanoke).  In 2019 he was appointed as I.U.E.C. Vice President where he served until 2023 when he accepted a job as a National Coordinator with the Elevator Industry Work Preservation Fund where he works with the wind turbine team, media, legislation, and prevailing wage.
