Lee Alley

Lee started his career in 1983 as a member of the International Union of Elevator Constructors (IUEC) Local 124, Mobile, Alabama. He followed his uncle’s footsteps into the trade where he was fortunate to be his helper in repair for Montgomery Elevator. Lee moved into construction working on jobs throughout the South. Lee completed his National Elevator Educational Program courses during these years and passed the Mechanics Exam.

Lee’s work as a foreman and adjuster on construction and modernization jobs, allowed him to work with elevator constructors across the United States, as well as southern China and Dubai. His travels to Dubai allowed him to work on the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa project.

Lee has served Local 124 for over 25 years. He was appointed in 1994 to fill a vacant seat as Vice-President. He served in that position until he was elected President of his Local. He has been a delegate to four general conventions. In 2016 Lee was elected to serve as Business Manager of Local 124 until January 2023 when he was appointed to a position with the Elevator Industry Work Preservation Fund as a National Coordinator.

Lee has been an instructor with NEIEP since 2003. He completed his Master Instructors certificate through NEIEP and Roger Williams University. He is an OSHA Outreach Trainer in construction and an authorized disaster response trainer.

Lee has always been interested in codes and standards in the elevator industry. He is a Qualified Elevator inspector through QEITF. Lee was appointed by the Governor of Alabama to the state’s Elevator Safety Review Board.

Lee and his beautiful wife, Anne live in southern Alabama. They are Blessed with a wonderful Family. A son who is an IUEC Mechanic, a wonderful daughter-in-law, two great grandchildren, a daughter who travels with our grand dog, as a registered nurse. Lee’s hobbies are his Family, enjoying time with them, and being outdoors.
